Quick capture, deep notes or tasks?
Memos is for the notes you would otherwise send to yourself in a chat: a thought, a link, a snippet, all on one timeline you can search and tag. TriliumNext Notes is for knowledge you build up over years, where notes live inside other notes and link to each other, and some can be locked with their own password.
Vikunja is for work with a due date. Keep personal lists or share projects with a team, switch between a list, a Kanban board and a calendar for the same tasks, and sync them to your phone's calendar or task app over CalDAV.
Bringing your notes with you
TriliumNext imports Markdown as well as Evernote, Notion and Obsidian exports, and Vikunja has importers for several to-do services. Export from your old app first, then use the import screen once your instance is running. For anything larger, the files can go in over SFTP from the Files tab.
What it costs
All three run on the Lite plan: US$1.10 a month in Poland or US$1.50 in Sydney, however many people use them. Your balance is prepaid and drawn by the hour, and every new account starts with $5 of credit, no card needed. Daily backups are included, and encrypted backups are stored in the EU.
