Why Activepieces and not one of the other automation tools?

It is MIT-licensed, actively developed, and genuinely good. The flow builder is one of the friendliest in open source. We list automation tools we can host cleanly and support properly, and Activepieces is the current flagship.

Can my flows call external APIs and send email?

Outbound HTTP is unrestricted for normal use. Direct port 25 email is blocked network-wide (an anti-spam measure); use any authenticated SMTP provider on port 465/587 or a transactional email piece.

What if an update breaks a flow?

Daily backups with one-click restore are standard, so you can roll your instance back yourself from the panel. No support ticket required.

Activepieces starts on the Power tier, which gives its flow workers the memory they need. Resize to Scale from the panel as your flow volume grows; changes take minutes and are prorated.

Why does it need the Power tier?

Activepieces runs a web app, a queue and flow workers side by side, and that stack wants 4 GB of memory to run reliably. We set the floor where the app is actually stable rather than selling you a tier that struggles.

Who keeps Activepieces updated?

We do. Curated updates roll out shortly after upstream releases and are tested on our platform first; security fixes move fast. If an update changes behaviour in a breaking way, we email you before it lands.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

Take a final export or SFTP copy any time before you cancel. After termination we keep your data for 14 days (in case you change your mind), then purge it, backups included.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes. Point a CNAME at your instance, prove ownership with a TXT record, and TLS certificates are issued automatically. Cloudflare-proxied domains work; if you use CAA records, allow letsencrypt.org.

Already running Activepieces on PikaPods, a VPS or your own server? You can bring your data with you. Deploy the app here first, then follow the route below, and keep your old app until you are happy.

Use Activepieces's own import

Export each flow from your old Activepieces (one flow downloads as a .json file, several as a zip) and import it into the new one, then reconnect the services each flow uses. Saved connections are encrypted with a key and do not travel in flow exports, so enter them again.

Ways to move it

Do it yourself. Deploy Activepieces, let it start once, then use the steps on this page, with SFTP and the file manager in the Files tab. A backup taken first gives you a clean point to go back to.
Ask us to move it. Open a ticket from your control panel with the app and where it runs now. Support will tell you what can be moved and help you do it, and nobody touches your old app.

Coming from PikaPods? Switch on SFTP in the pod's settings, stop the pod and copy its files; PikaPods documents this as its manual backup for migrations.
