Self-hosted budgeting and personal finance apps
Looking for a budgeting app that keeps your financial data on a server you control? CoreHost runs three open source finance apps for you: Actual Budget for envelope budgeting, Firefly III for detailed tracking with rules and reports, and Sure for net worth and household finances. Each one runs as its own private instance at a flat monthly price, with daily backups, SFTP access and no per-user subscription.

How to choose
Pick by how you think about money. If you budget from your next pay, assigning money to categories before you spend it, Actual Budget is built around exactly that and is the quickest to learn.
If you want a full ledger of every account, with rules, tags and reports that answer questions like "what did the car cost us this year", Firefly III gives you the most control, at the cost of more setup. If you mostly want your whole financial picture in one place and want to share it with a partner, Sure is the most household friendly.
All three can take your history from exported bank files, so you can start without connecting a bank feed. Where an app supports live bank feeds, they go through a provider you sign up with yourself, and which banks are covered depends on your country.
Your data, your server
Your accounts and transactions live in your app's own database on CoreHost, in the region you choose: Sydney or Poland for new apps. Nothing is shared with other customers, and nothing leaves your app unless you connect a bank feed, a market data source or an AI provider yourself. Encrypted backups are stored in the EU.
You can copy your data out over SFTP or use each app's own export whenever you like, so moving on is always possible.
What it costs
Actual Budget runs on the Lite plan, US$1.10 a month in Poland or US$1.50 in Sydney. Firefly III and Sure need the Standard plan, US$1.70 a month in Poland or US$2.30 in Sydney, because each runs a database and background workers alongside the app. The price is the same however many people in your household use it. New accounts start with $5 of credit and no card.
