How CoreHost is run, and how it works

CoreHost is run by a small independent team spread across timezones. It is a deliberately small business: a short catalog of apps, run carefully, by people who answer for every one of them.

The same team also runs a sibling service, so the habits behind CoreHost come from looking after other people's servers every day: automate the routine work, back everything up, and make restoring a backup something you do yourself.

Good open-source software exists for most of the things people pay a monthly subscription for: password managers, uptime checks, wikis, automation, photo libraries. Running it yourself means a server to patch, backups to check and updates to watch. Paying for a SaaS product means your data lives on its terms.

CoreHost sits in between. We run the open-source app for you at a flat price, and it stays the same software you could run yourself. Nothing about it is proprietary to us, so if you want to leave, you take your data and go.

Your own private instance

Every app runs in its own container on its own address, with its own CPU, memory and storage allocation. Your app and its data are not shared with anyone else's.

Daily backups, one-click restore

Each app is backed up every day. Restoring one is a button in your control panel, not a support request.

Updates tried on a copy first

Updates are applied to a test copy of the app and checked before they reach yours.

AI first, a person behind it

An AI support agent answers tickets first and knows your apps and account. When it cannot solve something, a person takes the ticket over.

Your data, whenever you want it

SFTP access and a file manager for every app, plus each app's own export tools. Download a backup or copy your files out at any time.

Customer apps run in Sydney, the US and Poland. Encrypted backups are stored in the EU.

The website, sign-in and billing run on Amazon Web Services. Card payments are handled by Stripe, so card details never touch our servers. Live checks and incident history are on the status page.

Prices are flat and per app: you choose a plan size, and that is the price. You top up a prepaid balance in USD, AUD or EUR, and your apps draw their price from it by the hour. There is no usage metering, and no surprise bill at the end of the month, because apps only draw on balance you have added.

You get a receipt for every top-up. New accounts start with $5 of credit and no card. Full details are on the pricing page.

These apps exist because their developers built them. If you maintain one of the apps we host, you can apply to receive 15% of what customers pay to run it, paid quarterly.

The program is opt-in. Hosting an app does not make its project a partner, and does not mean the project endorses CoreHost. Read the partner program terms.
