Wiki.jsWhat you're getting

Wiki.js is a modern wiki for teams and projects that want their documentation in one searchable place. Write pages in Markdown, a visual editor or raw HTML, arrange them into folders and a navigation menu, and everyone you invite can read, search and edit from any browser. It suits internal docs, runbooks, onboarding guides, handbooks and public help centres.

Every page keeps a full version history, so you can see who changed what and roll back a bad edit. Groups and page rules decide who can read or edit each part of the wiki, so a public help section and a private staff area can sit side by side. People can sign in with local accounts or through Google, Microsoft, GitHub or any OpenID Connect provider, and you can mirror every page to a Git repository as an extra copy.

On CoreHost, Wiki.js runs with its own PostgreSQL database inside the same instance. That is the database the Wiki.js project recommends, and the only one its next major version will support, so there is no migration waiting for you later. There is nothing extra to set up or pay for.

Setup is finished before your wiki goes online. A fresh Wiki.js normally lets the first visitor create the administrator account; ours is created for you with a generated password, shown in your CoreHost panel, so a stranger can never get there first.

Replaces Confluence: Priced per user, so the bill grows with every person you invite, and your pages live in Atlassian's cloud. Wiki.js is a flat monthly price for the whole team, with your pages in your own database.

On CoreHost

  • Markdown, visual and HTML editors with full page history
  • PostgreSQL included and managed, no separate database to run
  • Setup completed privately, with your admin login waiting in the panel
  • Groups and page rules for public and private sections
  • Sign in with Google, Microsoft, GitHub or any OpenID Connect provider
  • Reset a lost admin password from the CoreHost settings page

Moving to CoreHostMove your existing Wiki.js here

Already running Wiki.js on PikaPods, a VPS or your own server? You can bring your data with you. Deploy the app here first, then follow the route below, and keep your old app until you are happy.

Tell us what you are moving

Wiki.js keeps pages in a database. Connect a Git repository or a local folder under Administration, Storage to bring a folder of Markdown files in, or open a ticket to move an existing wiki with its users.

Ways to move it

  • Do it yourself. Deploy Wiki.js, let it start once, then use the steps on this page, with SFTP and the file manager in the Files tab. A backup taken first gives you a clean point to go back to.
  • Ask us to move it. Open a ticket from your control panel with the app and where it runs now. Support will tell you what can be moved and help you do it, and nobody touches your old app.

Coming from PikaPods? Switch on SFTP in the pod's settings, stop the pod and copy its files; PikaPods documents this as its manual backup for migrations.
