How do people sign in?

Your browser asks for a username and password when you open the app. You sign in as admin with the password shown in your CoreHost panel. For your team, set a Shared user password under Settings and give them the username user and that password.

Can I make pads open to anyone with the link?

Yes. Turn off Require sign in for pads under Settings. Anyone who has a pad's address can then read and edit it, and anyone can create new pads, so only do this if that is what you want.

Can I import Word documents and export PDFs?

Yes. Each pad's Import and Export menu takes Word (.docx), HTML and plain text files in, and exports Word, PDF, HTML, plain text and Etherpad files.

How do I get back text someone deleted?

Open the pad's time slider, move back to before the change, and copy the text or export that revision. Every change is kept in the pad's history.

Where is the admin area?

Add /admin to your app address and sign in as admin. It lists your pads and lets you find, inspect and delete them.

Can I add Etherpad plugins?

Plugins are built into the image on CoreHost rather than installed from the admin area, and none are included today. Open a ticket if there is a plugin you need and we will look at adding it.

Who keeps Etherpad updated?

We do. Curated updates roll out shortly after upstream releases and are tested on our platform first; security fixes move fast. If an update changes behaviour in a breaking way, we email you before it lands.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

Take a final export or SFTP copy any time before you cancel. After termination we keep your data for 14 days (in case you change your mind), then purge it, backups included.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes. Point a CNAME at your instance, prove ownership with a TXT record, and TLS certificates are issued automatically. Cloudflare-proxied domains work; if you use CAA records, allow letsencrypt.org.

Etherpad is the original real-time collaborative editor. Create a pad, share its address, and everyone types into the same document at once, each person's changes in their own colour. Nothing needs saving: every keystroke is kept, and the time slider replays a pad's history so you can see who wrote what or recover an earlier version.

Do it yourself. Deploy Etherpad, let it start once, then use the steps on this page, with SFTP and the file manager in the Files tab. A backup taken first gives you a clean point to go back to.
Ask us to move it. Open a ticket from your control panel with the app and where it runs now. Support will tell you what can be moved and help you do it, and nobody touches your old app.
