Apache AnswerWhat you're getting

Apache Answer is open source question and answer software in the style of Stack Overflow. Members ask questions, others answer, the asker accepts the best answer, and votes, tags and reputation lift the most useful knowledge to the top where the next person searching will find it.

Use it as a public help forum for your product, a community space for an open source project, or a private knowledge base where your team stops answering the same questions in chat. Private mode, invite only sign up and allowed email domains keep an internal site internal, while moderation queues, reports and a review step for new members keep a public one tidy.

CoreHost installs your Answer site for you before anyone can reach it, so there is no public install page to race for. Your first admin login is waiting in your files, the SQLite database and uploads live on your own server in Sydney or Poland, and daily backups and the server side are looked after.

Replaces Stack Overflow for Teams: Priced per user each month; here one flat server price covers every member who joins.

Backups to your own S3

Add encrypted, incremental backups to your own S3-compatible storage on top of the daily ones we include.

Moving to CoreHostMove your existing Apache Answer here

Already running Apache Answer on PikaPods, a VPS or your own server? You can bring your data with you. Deploy the app here first, then follow the route below, and keep your old app until you are happy.

Tell us what you are moving

Apache Answer has no importer for other forums or Q&A tools, so most communities start fresh. Moving from another Apache Answer site is a database copy: open a ticket and we will do it with you.

Ways to move it

  • Do it yourself. Deploy Apache Answer, let it start once, then use the steps on this page, with SFTP and the file manager in the Files tab. A backup taken first gives you a clean point to go back to.
  • Ask us to move it. Open a ticket from your control panel with the app and where it runs now. Support will tell you what can be moved and help you do it, and nobody touches your old app.

Coming from PikaPods? Switch on SFTP in the pod's settings, stop the pod and copy its files; PikaPods documents this as its manual backup for migrations.
