How do I set up Forgejo after it starts?

Your first visit shows Forgejo's one-time setup page with the database and settings already filled in. Scroll to the bottom, open Administrator Account Settings, create your admin username and password, then press Install Forgejo. Public sign ups are turned off, so you create any teammate accounts yourself from Site Administration.

Can I clone and push over SSH?

At launch only the HTTPS endpoint is exposed, so clone, pull and push over HTTPS with a username and token work out of the box. The built-in SSH server is disabled because the platform publishes a single HTTP port per app.

Is this the same as Gitea?

Forgejo is the community-run fork of Gitea and stays compatible with it, so the interface, API and data model are the ones Gitea users already know. The difference is governance: Forgejo is developed by a non-profit under a copyleft licence, which is a safer bet for a tool your team depends on long term.
