WriteFreelyWhat you're getting
WriteFreely is a clean, open source publishing platform for blogs and long-form writing. You write in Markdown in a distraction-free editor, publish to a blog at your own address, and readers get a fast page, an RSS feed and a plain design with no tracking.
It can also join the fediverse. With federation switched on, your blog becomes an account that people on Mastodon and other servers can follow, and your posts show up in their feeds. You can run several writers on one server with invite links, give each writer more than one blog, add custom CSS and import or export posts.
On CoreHost, WriteFreely runs on its own server in Sydney or Poland and starts closed: one admin account with a generated password, no open sign-up, and federation off until you choose to turn it on. Sign-in attempts are rate limited, and the requests your server makes to other servers can only go to public addresses. We handle the server, TLS, updates and daily backups.
WriteFreely is an independent open source project. CoreHost runs the official release and is not affiliated with WriteFreely or Write.as.

Ways to move it
- Do it yourself. Deploy WriteFreely, let it start once, then use the steps on this page, with SFTP and the file manager in the Files tab. A backup taken first gives you a clean point to go back to.
- Ask us to move it. Open a ticket from your control panel with the app and where it runs now. Support will tell you what can be moved and help you do it, and nobody touches your old app.
Coming from PikaPods? Switch on SFTP in the pod's settings, stop the pod and copy its files; PikaPods documents this as its manual backup for migrations.
