SilverBullet is an open source notes app and personal knowledge base that runs in your browser. You write in Markdown with a live preview, link pages wiki style with links that work both ways, keep tasks, a journal and outlines, and query your notes like a database.
If you like to tinker, Space Lua lets you write your own commands, page templates, widgets and live queries inside your pages. SilverBullet works offline in the browser and syncs when you are back online, and every page is a plain Markdown file you can take with you.
On CoreHost, SilverBullet runs on its own managed instance in Sydney or Poland. Sign in is always required: your instance starts with one owner account and a password generated for it, and the setup page that would let the first visitor create the administrator never runs. Running programs on the server and the server-side browser runtime are switched off, and the server's own web requests can only reach public internet addresses. We handle the server, TLS, updates and daily backups.

Copy your files across
Every page is a plain Markdown file. Upload your existing folder of notes over SFTP into the spaces folder (data/spaces/notes), or add pages in the browser.
Ways to move it
- Do it yourself. Deploy SilverBullet, let it start once, then use the steps on this page, with SFTP and the file manager in the Files tab. A backup taken first gives you a clean point to go back to.
- Ask us to move it. Open a ticket from your control panel with the app and where it runs now. Support will tell you what can be moved and help you do it, and nobody touches your old app.
Coming from PikaPods? Switch on SFTP in the pod's settings, stop the pod and copy its files; PikaPods documents this as its manual backup for migrations.
