Cron monitorWhat you're getting

This is a monitor for the jobs nobody watches: nightly backups, database dumps, certificate renewals, report generators, anything that runs on a schedule. Each job gets its own secret ping address. Add one line to the end of the job that requests that address, and your instance expects to hear from it on time. When a ping goes missing, or a job reports that it failed, you get an alert instead of finding out weeks later.

You tell it how often each job should run, either as a simple period or as a cron expression with a time zone, and how long to wait before alerting. Start and finish pings record how long runs take, a log keeps the latest pings with their output, and a dashboard shows every job as up, late or down. Alerts can go to email (through your own mail server), Slack, Discord, Telegram, Microsoft Teams, ntfy, Gotify, Matrix, PagerDuty, Pushover or any webhook. It runs Healthchecks, the open-source project, so the same checks, projects, team access, status badges and REST API are all there.

On CoreHost your monitor runs with its own storage, hosted in Sydney or Poland, with daily backups, SFTP access and updates handled for you. It is closed by default: your owner account is created with your email address and a password generated for you before the app first starts, and sign-up is off. The ping addresses are the one public door, by design, and each is a long random secret. Webhooks and other alert targets can reach only public internet addresses, never the server or its neighbours.

Replaces Cronitor: a dead man's switch for every job without a per-monitor price.

On CoreHost

  • A secret ping address per job, with start, success and fail signals and run times
  • Schedules as a period or a cron expression with a time zone, plus a grace time
  • Alerts to email, Slack, Discord, Telegram, Teams, ntfy, Gotify, Matrix, PagerDuty and webhooks
  • Closed by default: your email and a generated password, sign-up off, nothing visible without signing in
  • Webhooks and alert targets can reach public addresses only, never the server or its neighbours
  • Hosted in Sydney or Poland

Moving to CoreHostMove your existing Cron monitor here

Already running Cron monitor on PikaPods, a VPS or your own server? You can bring your data with you. Deploy the app here first, then follow the route below, and keep your old app until you are happy.

Tell us what you are moving

Tell us which app you are moving and where it runs now, and we will say whether it can be moved by copying files, with the app's own export, or whether starting fresh is simpler.

Ways to move it

  • Do it yourself. Deploy Cron monitor, let it start once, then use the steps on this page, with SFTP and the file manager in the Files tab. A backup taken first gives you a clean point to go back to.
  • Ask us to move it. Open a ticket from your control panel with the app and where it runs now. Support will tell you what can be moved and help you do it, and nobody touches your old app.

Coming from PikaPods? Switch on SFTP in the pod's settings, stop the pod and copy its files; PikaPods documents this as its manual backup for migrations.
